A Brief History

First Baptist Church of Valparaiso (or “FBC”) was started on June 10, 1837, when Elder Alpheus French became the first Baptist preacher to give a sermon in Porter County. For 124 years, FBC was located at the northwest corner of Chicago and Lafayette streets until 1961, when a new church building was constructed at its present location on Campbell Street.

In 2012, we were thrilled to celebrate our 175th anniversary.

We pray that God will bless our future ministry and involvement in our community!
